Bishop Thomas Masters

is the former Mayor of Riviera Beach, FL

About Me

Bishop Thomas Masters served as Mayor of Riviera Beach for 12 years, longer than anyone else in recent history. Bishop Thomas Masters represented the entire city and, indeed, sought to ensure the voice of every resident was heard through his oft-repeated mantra, ‘let the people speak.’ It is a belief that has driven his entire career, from his days as a firebrand preacher, to nationally known community activist, to being an elected official, and today as an International Ambassador of the World Conference of Mayors at Riviera Beach.

As an activist pastor, he even got a private meeting with Pope John Paul II to talk about juvenile crime issues.

He came to Riviera Beach in 1997 to lead New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained its Bishop. Bishop Thomas Masters is now celebrating 33 years at the church’s helm.

In all these years of service and commitment, he has launched dozens of community initiatives. Those include The Riviera Beach Senior Discount Program, The Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs (MOVA), and the hosting of Job Fairs a few times each year.
